Caetrati

Just to prove to myself that I did indeed finish these before the end of July - a single shot of 180 massed Caetrati in loose formation.  Almost all Companion Miniatures, with a few old Essex figs mixed in, sitting on my manky old painting mat, which has now been chucked.  Running total for 2013 now stands at 82 mounted and 448 single figures.

Eagle-eyed observers will have spotted that there has been not a lot happening here for a while now, mainly because very little gaming has taken place while we get ready for the house move.  This will be the last post I manage for a couple of weeks at least.  We move into our new place in the middle of August, and it will take some time to get it sorted.  Wish us luck!

First Tuesday Game: Gettysburg

Yesterday evening Gordon ran the second day of Gettysburg, exactly 150 years after the real thing.  No photos, because everything was tight - the whole thing on a 10' by 6' table using 10mm figs.  Rules were Gordon's homebrew set 'Two Armed Mobs', which just about summed up the players, if not the miniatures! I was Caldwell for the day, sitting on the ridge with four weak brigades and a rifled artillery battery.  I did very little except take the occasional pot shot with the guns, for no discernible effect, which suited me nicely.  I then swept forward as part of a general advance once the opposition's attacks fragmented.  A good time was had by all...

On the Painting Tray: July 2013

Half way through the loose order Caetrati for my Ancient Spanish army.  I dug out eighteen old Essex figs that need a re-paint to add to my heap of Companion Miniatures, giving me a total of 180 of these guys to paint.  I'm about half way there, which means that I'm on track for my estimated painting time of two months with this lot.  That will give me half of what I need for the Turdetani at Ilipa, with another 180 to follow afterwards.  After that it's holiday time and moving house, so August will be very busy...
