24 more completed for Willie:
Standing happily upon the cork tiles, these are a few extra that happened to be in the batch of stuff I'm slowly painting for Willie.
There's a real mix of manufacturers here. Some of the shields were relatively small, so I bought a set of 1/72nd transfers from Little Big Men. This takes me up to 60 figures painted so far in 2012.

I'm detecting a little teeny tiny bit of Hoplite rage there Caliban. Maybe you'll feel better when you get to kill a few in a game?
ReplyDeleteNice work - the mix of makers looks great. Dean
ReplyDeleteA nicely painted little bunch Paul.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the positive vibes everyone - and yes, I want to be on the Persian side at Plataea. I'm all painted out with hoplites, not to mention Romans. It would be good send a few to Hades...
ReplyDeleteThey look really top-notch. Great job, and the variation is very effective.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Aaron
They look good Paul as does the cork tile good idea!
ReplyDeleteNice looking shield line..I know what you mean about painting too mayn of them...no matter how good they look en masse there comes a point when you´ve painted quite enough of them
ReplyDeleteCheers
paul
I don't know where you get the enthusiasm from to get so much painting done!
ReplyDeleteNice looking hoplites - they provided their own gear and so the effect of mixed manufacturers is actually pretty realistic in my book
Thanks guys. Paul has a point!
ReplyDelete@David, I'm trying to decide if I have enthusiasm, or if it's just sheer bloody-mindedness. To be honest, the only thing that keeps me going is committing to a single major game in a year, and that really helps me get through lots of similar figures. Well, at least it worked with the Romans...
Nicely done figures Paul, and as said, the cork tile is a good idea which I think will need some further exploration.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the Persians, send a few to the 9th pit for me.
Excellent hoplites Paul - nice mix of figures that works well on your cork tiles.
ReplyDeleteThe fig look great! I've always wanted to build a Hoplite army for Tactica. The cork tiles are pretty cool too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for looking, folks, and for the comments on the cork tiles. It will be a while before I'll be able to set aside the time to work with those, but I have a pretty good idea of how to go about it. I did take a sample or two into the club and the reaction there was very positive. Just need to finish even more hoplites first. And a unit of Immortals; can't forget them!
