Last Legion of 2014

These guys have been finished for a while now; I just had to base them. However, taking photos of them had to wait until this weekend. By the time I get home on weekdays, it's dark again here in not so sunny Scotland. Anyway, here goes:
Eighty figures, a mounted legate and five dead 'uns - my standard legion composition.
Figs again mostly by Companion Miniatures, with man on horse by Navigator. Shield designs courtesy of Little Big Men.
My final tally of painted 28mm for 2014 was 711 foot figures; 110 mounted; and seven nellies. I don't think I'll come close to that this year!

  1. Hail, Caesar! Those who know the weather forecast salute you! Very impressed by figures, shields and the excellent basing technique....you can never have too many Romans. Old Latin proverb 'You can show a war-gamer to water but a figure must be lead.'

  2. Hi Simon, thanks for looking, and for the mind-blowing puns! These guys will be seeing service in the campaign in the not too distant future...

  3. Looks like you enjoy painting Romans, they turn out nice every time a picture is posted. I also like how you add suitable command figures from other ranges.

I would be lucky to paint that many figures in 5 years.

    1. Hi Joe, the mixed command was a necessity - there weren't enough in the Companion Miniatures I managed to find. They seem to have turned out well, though.

  5. Great Roman horde! You have performed outstanding well on your 2014 painting tallies. Well done!

I love the ground eye view of the Romans advancing (on me) in your Blog header. Fantastic visual.

  6. Thanks for looking, everyone. I must admit that I became a little bit bored with the plain header, so I decided that a bit of a refresh was in order...
